Title: FWIW: Mail revelation
Post by: daryl66 on January 14, 2011, 02:11:53 PM
While zipping along in Mail with my fairly new 'Magic Trackpad" a wandering finger caused what ever I was working with to disappear. Spotlight told me the work was is in the "Mail Downloads" folder located in the Library folder. Sure enuff there it was. What was also in that folder were 192 files, mostly Microsoft PPS, XLS, and a few PDF,s. average file size was about 3megs. This was stuff that must have gone back to the first time I used Mail.
I was not even aware that folder existed and evidently when I trash the email's that have attachments the attachment file(S) continue to reside here. Recovered almost a half a gig by dumping them.

You might want to check Mail->Preferences->General: Remove unedited downloads: "After Message is Deleted" Sounds like yours may be set to "Never."
