My brother is going to have to learn PowerPoint and get a version for Mac,,,,,,,but right in the Keynote info it says that you can use it to make your presentations then export it as a PowerPoint file.
Here is the quote from the Keynote info page by Apple,

This is his project that he will be on a ship in the South Pacific that I mentioned back when I asked questions about PowerPoint.
So he wont know what kind of a projector or hardware they will have until pretty close to the time they leave.
Any info on this will surely help us, If we dont have to buy Powerpoint and learn it, and just can do this whole thing with Keynote, we will be happy as can be.

Their user manual pdf is excellent.
Garage band, I would LOVE to have the time to learn that one too.
Oh, just looking at its info page, just tons of video tuts too.
I better not get off the track and start playing with it, as I do get easily sidetracked and start playing with stuff, and forget what I was working on.

I use GB for one thing, but I use another app for creating the files I send to it. Keynote is extremely easy to use and has things that PowerPoint doesn't, but if you travel to a place and don't bring your Mac, you may be stuck doing a slide-less talk! Unless you saved as a PP (and then lose some of he Keynote-only transitions). So, it's a matter of using any app to do what it's best at and knowing when to use something else. And it is often cheaper to buy several smaller apps than one humongous, every-thing-but-the-kitchen-sink app. 
Frankly, I don't think many people investigate nearly everything most apps can do. Even in the OS...

So now this is a good excuse to get a Roland keyboard. My neighbour has one and comes over with it sometimes, he plays gospel songs. I really need a nice keyboard here now, as all the grandkids and our kids play.
Then I can go thru all the Garage Band lessons.
Another fun time sink,,,,,,,,,
I really think that Keynote is the way to go, as my brother is taking his wife on the trip, and she has a nice Mac Powerbook, fairly new.
And then they would have the computer, the software, the presentation all together.
I dont know how the projectors work, or how they do that, but he can find that out.
Thank you for the info, it seems that I am way stupid about things like presentations and that stuff. I never had to use such stuff when I worked and Ive been retired for about 14 years.

Make sure that whatever kybd you get has a USB Midi* interface so it CAN work w/ GB, and I suggest you also look at Yamaha kybds.
