Post by: ADSR on February 13, 2011, 01:08:02 PM
Got videos , .mov playing ok with Tiger but needs to have them in OS 9
Required compressor could not be found.. apparently no codec avalaible for Quicktime 6.0.3 on os 9.2.2
Is there an alternative for quicktime OS 9, or a possibilty to convert them in another format 9 compatible..?
Thanks
GR

Not sure I understand the problem. ".mov" is the QuickTime format. However, if you created them in Tiger, they could easily be a newer .mov format than QuickTime 6.0.3 can recognize. Many apps can recognize older formats, but very few old apps can recognize/use newer versions/formats.
QuickTime 6.0.3 gained the ability to also play MP4 files. Perhaps you could convert the .mov to an MP4 and then get QuickTime 6.0.3 to play it.

Converting them to MP4 is ok for playing whith Quicktime 6.03 but the image is fuzzy, is there something to do about that ?

Converting to MP4 causes the videos to be uncompressed and re-compressed, which will degrade quality. You may be able to make the images less blurry by using different quality settings when you convert to MP4, but there will always be some degradation.
