My mother passed away today at age 78, she had diabetes, abdominal cancer and Alzheimers. It's a sad day for me, but I was expecting it.
As a tribute to a lovely lady, I created a simple web page with some pictures I scanned this evening. I made it mostly for family and friends, but I do want to share with you good folks at TS, so I hope you don't mind.

Beautiful page. My sympathies to you and yours. Yesterday was the third aniversary of my Dad's passing yet he lives on in my heart and is always with me. May you find the peace that comes in knowing that your Mother always will be with you also.

Dear Karl,
May your mother rest in peace. I know at a personal level how hard it is to deal with that combination of devistating diseases. Thank you for sharing and I hope that the good memories sustain you as you grieve.

I'm so sorry for your loss Karl...
I lost my Dad 13 years ago with the passing of Feb. 15... it was expected too, but that doesn't make it any easier.
You do start thinking of all the good times more and more as time passes.
Thank-you for sharing your tribute with us...
-
My condolences on the passing of your Mom. What a lovely soul is shown through her pictures!
And I see why your favorite is your favorite!
A fitting tribute to a great lady.
-
My condolences Karl,
May this and the coming days rest easy on your shoulders.

Karl: while you will never get over the loss of your mother you will be comforted by the memories of the many happy times you shared together. God bless.

The tribute to your Mom was very touching. May she rest in peace.
It is never easy to deal with the loss of a parent. May the passing days bring you peace in the knowledge that Magda was loved by you and you by her. Thank you for sharing this part of your life.

I forgot to add, you SURE do look like your Grandfather. In these parts, we'd say "Big Daddy spit him out."
-
I'm deeply, deeply touched by all your responses.
Thank you all!
After spending all of yesterday making arrangements, I needed a little Mac-therapy. There's still much to be done today.

I share the feelings of everyone whose posted above, Karl. Lost my Dad in '87, and started wearing his watch (had never felt the need of a watch, since clocks are everywhere) as a daily reminder of how much I miss him. We "bumped heads" from the time I was 7 until I turned 31 (and barely spoke to each other, except at extremely high volumes during the Vietnam era), when we started to rebuild our relationship, and over the next 13 years, became very close. It's obvious that you loved your Mom , and that page is a nice memorial for her. Condolences, my friend. . .
-
Karl, my deepest sympathies to you and your family. Your tribute was beautiful. By the way, your mom raised a son who always seems willing to give his time and energy to help others. She did a nice job.
-
Karl, that was a beautiful tribute to a lovely lady! You are in my thoughts at this sad time. I hope that your future is filled with joy and many causes for celebration.

I'm sorry for your loss, karl.
Take care.
-
Karl, I feel for you. My deepest sympathies.
I can't imagine to a life without a mother, it doesn't matter that you've moved out at a young age (I was 16) and you're all grown up and independent, a mother is always a mother and something very dear to all of us.
Your mother was a beautiful woman, even in old age she had that glow some women have.
The page you made is a wonderful tribute to your mother and I'm honored that you wanted to share them with me. Thank you!
-
My deepest sympathies.
A wonderful tribute.
-
Once again, a big heart fealt Thank You to everyone.
-
What a moving tribute, Karl, and a testimony to the love of a son for his mother. Your sharing of such an important part of your life is truly appreciated.
-
With deepest sympathy for you and your family on your great loss, Karl, sorry to hear about your Mother passing.
Nice tribute, beautiful pictures.
Blessing to you and your family.
-
karl,
Your tribute to your Mother was a beautiful testimonial to the deep and abiding affection you had for her.
What a fitting way to express how you feel; and what a fine son she raised.
May the Angels lead her into Paradise.

I lost my Mother to Alzheimers a few years ago - she was relatively young when diagnosed with the disease - and although at the time of her death I felt I'd really lost her some years before, it still hurt just the same.
My thoughts are with you.

Karl,
With great sympathy.
Thanks for sharing her life with us. Indeed a great tribute.
May the Lord comfort and keep you during this time of need.

The cremation ceremony is later on this afternoon. The kind words and thoughts on these pages will be with me.
Thanks.
-
Karl - Sorry to hear of your loss; but if anything could've served
as an introduction to someone who I didn't know your tribute
would do it! Lovely! Kind of wish I'd done something like this
about my folks; kind of late now!
Best wishes to you and your family!

gunug (John),
It's never too late, man. You can still do it for your folks. When my dad died, the internet wasn't public (still ARPA) but why should that stop me if I wanted to do it now. My mom didn't want an obituaty in the papers, that was her wish...but she didn't say anything about a web site.
Thanks for the roses SB.
-
Gunug... you know, kps is right!
I don't know what "state" the internet was at in 1990, except that I wasn't part of it at all until 1997...
I'd been meaning to do this for awhile now, this tribute spurred me to "get with it"...
Thus: My Dad
with more pride than I can say...
It's never too late for these things...
kps... I hope I'm not intruding, please tell me if so... but I'd like to see more people do these things now that we have a wonder like the internet...
God Bless...
-
Intruding? Don't be silly.
No intrusion at all, Diane, glad you posted.
I think it's great!

Thank-you...

IAWK&D, Ganug, it's never to late.
Very nice Karl and Dreambird, thank you so much for sharing.
You two got me thinking of my brother again. You've inspired me to go back and edit some of his pages.
Brother Bosco, I miss him.
Like Dreambird, I hope I'm not intruding, Karl.
-
Not at all, Al. I like the direction this thread is taking and if it evolves into others posting tributes to their loved ones, then that's wonderful.
So, if anyone wishes to post a tribute to a loved one, feel free to do so.

Karl....
-
My deepest sympathies Karl....and thank you for sharing such a wonderful tribute with us.
-
My deepest sympathy to you Karl in your loss...that is a beautiful tribute, and my condolences to those of you that have had similar recent family losses.....they rest in peace....trish

Karl:
You are such an important member of this amazing "family" and you honor us all by sharing that lovely and moving page to your Mother's memory. Thank you, sincerely.
I have been out-of-touch with TS for a couple of weeks and only saw your posting this evening. It reminded me of the thoughful lines of Mary Frye, which i hope may offer you some solace during difficult days . . .

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
I am the song that never ends,
I am the love of a dear friend,
I am the child who comes to rest
In arms of Father who knows him best.
When you see the sunset fair,
I am the scented evening air
I am the joy of tasks well done
I am the glow of the setting sun.
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
