Title: Discovering "Akamai"
Post by: Bruce_F on July 26, 2011, 11:40:01 AM
I just discovered the Akamai Download Manager when I viewed my apps using Launchpad. After reading some articles about it, I decided to delete it. It will probable get installed again if or when I ever download software from Adobe.

It sounds like a good way to speed up downloading large files but I don't particularly want my computer used as a host and that's why I deleted it.

I don't think that is possible! Paranoid.gif And I've been considering doing the same thing.

It's strange that Adobe goes to such great lengths to design every "wheel" themselves...there are several other installation methods around, Sparkle for one, that seem to work extremely well, not to mention plain old disk image files. And I don't think Apple charges anything to use the Apple method, anyway. I suppose Adobe wants to double-check/confirm licenses, etc. and already developed their method for Windows... dntknw.gif

The Adobe vs Apple feud has always annoyed me. I don't understand they can't play nice together. I guess there's just too much money to be made.
