If you've used the Snow Leopard Combo, you may need/want to download and (re)install the Safari v5.1 standalone.

Of course, having archived versions of any critical app is paramount [or is it MGM?] (.zip, .DMG, Time Machine, clone, etc.). Still, it is frustrating for a 'user-friendly' company to do this kind of thing.

I was not speaking from direct experience, only from reports I had read about incompatibilities with some addons.
But I now understand that most of those have been fixed, or work-arounds found.
