So far, I haven't found an answer, other than to wait out the kinks.
I can get mail on my iPhone but it gives me error messages. Not so lucky with Mail app or online access.
You might be better off waiting to migrate for awhile.
Just thought I'd toss that in…

Nor am I in any hurry to update the Mac. I usually wait at least a week on OS updates.I will say that my normal Mail operation is back to its normal fast speed, unlike the past few days.
Apparently, my 3g might work with iCloud if the info <here> and <here (bottom of page)> is correct. I may still have to get the 10.7.2 update and possibly iTunes 10.5, however, just to get the iCloud.
Just checked SU and both the 10.7.2 and the iTunes update speak of the iCloud functionality, so with those I can probably get the iPhones updated. I just connected the iPhone this morning to update several apps and was told that I already have the latest iOS, but that was with iTunes 10.4.1... Seems all this "integration" thing is initially creating more problems than Catch 22!

Apple has published a step by step guide to setting up iCloud. Unfortunately, it uses their standard, "It's so simple and there's no reason for any more details" approach. <How to set up iCloud>
However, I plan on <reading this page> before doing anything to my iPhone!

I have the iPhone 4 so I don't get to try/use the hyped Siri app. Oh well, I'll probably upgrade when my current contract has ended next year.

I have been reading in preparation for using iCloud,it seems the more I read the confusder I get. (Happens more often these days)
We now have 2 MBP's one (hers) not yet upgraded to Lion, and the other one currently at 10.7.2 plus her iPad OS5
And one Apple id which we use with all of the devices
After upgrading her MBP I would like to go to iCloud for that machine and the iPad, which I understand will work with the current ID.
If I go to iCloud with the 2nd MBP which I want to keep totally separate from the above scenario, can I do that simply by adding another Apple ID?? and continue to use the existing ID for purchases on all 3 devices????

The biggest change is that with iTunes, we had to physically connect the iPod/Pad/Phone to download stuff into separate Libraries on each machine/device. With iCloud, our onliest identification remains the Apple ID but now all devices will be "connected" at the same time. At least, that's how I understand it (I was wrong wonce, however!).
I think the only solution is to create an ID for every machine/device owner and let them do the syncing. The biggest problem then may be credit card info for some younger members. They could certainly use iTunes cards (assuming those are accepted at the Mac App Store), but my grand-daughters are supposed to repay me on some time interval (which usually ends up being 'waived' for one reason of another.
). On the positive side, I think their knowing that I see all their purchases helps restrain their 'passion' for more 'stuff.' I think this whole question arises because of Apple's thinking of the iCloud as a personal service, not one that is used by families. It may be what is, hopefully, the beginning of the end of the "i/Me/Mine" generation.
Plus the dependence on only the Apple ID and complete disregard for any machine/device info (<MAC address>?!).So, as an answer to your question, it appears that any machine that is 'attached' to your Apple ID, will get all the data/apps/songs/etc. that goes to all the other ones. If you registered your devices with Apple (which some don't!), you had a chance to use your current Apple ID or to create one...I think. But you can also create an ID or another one, as far as I know, any time you want. What I don't know, and this is the key question, is how that ID is connected to any device.

That was pretty much my take also, and this is exactly what I DO NOT want. I have registered all the products using the same Apple ID for everything I have ever purchased from Apple. What I am wondering now is by creating a new Apple ID to be associated with the 2nd MBP, will the whole profile including credit card info have to be different??? OR is this even going to be an option???

I found that article last evening. It at least gives us hope. Like you I have not studied it, and it looks like there are lots of hoops to jump thru, however it does appear the issue is solvable.

At any rate, after reading the article, it appears a simple matter of creating an Apple ID for everyone owning a device. I'll gladly turn over 'monitoring' iTunes purchases to my grand-daughters mother who can now have her own ID, as well. OTOH, I'm not sure many of them will be using iCloud until they actually update their Mac's and iPod/Phone. Same for my wife. And I'll probably set up new info just to prevent inadvertent downloads of my data to anyone else.
It would seem to have been simpler to start a while new method.
An "iCloud ID?" OTOH, that could have caused massive confusion when MobileMe shuts down completely. What do I know... I'm not even sure that bringing this iCloud thing out piecemeal is good or bad! 
Oh well, still only thinking about updating to Lion .7! I am going to print out the Macworld story, however. Maybe even try to paraphrase it so I can (think) I understand it better.
