Yeah - I guess THAT kinda forces you to update, doesn't it? Basically, update or the unit goes on strike.

A bit off topic, but a FWIW.
On a recent trip to Chicago my world traveling better half with her ever present handy dandy Tom Tom XL100 ( I think it is) fired up and providing directions from O'Hare" to a hotel in downtown Chgo when the Tom Tom had an insanity attack. It just went crazy. Apparently the combination of the tall buildings, bad weather, and the signaling info emanating from the trains traveling the "loop" made downtown Chicago and Tom mutually exclusive. 
It was the middle of winter, raining, dark and rush hour. Suffice to say "unhappy camper" would be a gross understatement. How she finally managed to get to the hotel is another chapter.

GPS receivers don't like not having a clear view of the sky, at least enough to see two or more satellites at once. I'd suggest to the Chicago City Fathers that they lower all the building to no higher than 10 feet above ground level. That should provide plenty of sky space!
