I have a B&W and a Desktop G3. The Harddrive in the B&W went out so thinking I was smart I took the drive from the Desktop G3 and put it in the B&W. The B&W did not recogize the drive and said to intilize so I did - now it doesn't see the drive at all. I put it back into the Desktop and it doesn't see the drive either. So I bought 2 new drives (EIDE). The B&W is happy and running well but the Desktop does not see the drive. What kind of drive do I need for the Desktop? How do I add another drive to the B&W as it only has one set of connection cables. Happy 4th and thanks for any help I can get!!

It depends which Revision of the B&W you have. Revision 1 or 2.

Another option to consider - format and install the operating system for the beige G3 with the drive installed in the B&W. Then move it. You'll probably have to pull the existing drive out of the B&W temporarily - sounds like you may have an earlier B&W which doesn't take a second drive without another ATA card. (what makes me wonder is the fact that there is no other connector on your ATA cable - but I will also admit that I don't own a B&W, so can't advise as to whether this situation exists even with the later B&W's)

Just installed a Western Digital myself.
The drive is standard set to "Cable Select" which is just fine to use if you only have one hard drive in your computer.
