Our host told us: Hors d'oeuvres (chips, dip, cheese, crackers, shrimp, dip -- and more!), turkey, dressing, mashed taters, gravy, sweet taters smothered in sugar n butter n marshmallows, green bean casserole, rolls, raviolis and something else Italian, and 3 kinds of dessert. There will only be 7 (yes, SEVEN) of us at the table. UGH! I gently suggested a salad and he said, "That's a vegetable and we're already having the green beans." Double ugh.
I'm planning a nice, big, green salad at home before we go. I'm skipping the snacks. Dinner for me will be a slice of turkey, small (like 5 bites) amount of mashed taters, maybe 1 roll, spoon of green bean casserole (not my favorite dish), and a slice of pie. I figure I'll need to double exercise to deal with that small amount. Yeah, the holidays weren't the best time to try food intake reduction.
I'm also thinking I should take some Alka-Selzter® for the rest of the gang.

Except for the raviolis that might as well be our menu; actually the raviolis might be nice and generally we do start out with a salad. We had a dinner here at work last monday with two kinds of turkey (roasted and smoked) a nice ham and all the rest; my friend made Milky Way Cake and that was very popular! I wish I could rally the troops as well for the Christmas Dinner (usually a buffet eaten at a restaurant) and other Christmas doings. I'm the work Social Director and my coworkers are kind of hard to motivate!

The meal looks to be a surprise as our new Daughter-in-Law will be coming Wednesday to use our kitchen to prepare the food, which will then be taken 90 miles to Judy's parent's house where it will be eaten, assuming her mother is released from therapy in time. I'm sure there will be turkey, but that's all I am sure of. Judy always makes an outstanding frozen the night before, cranberry salad; not likely this time. This month is upside down with surgeries, therapies, 24/7 care searching, short term memory loss, Seasonal Affective Disorder, etc. Fortunately, the month will soon be over!
And the continuing elder-care/scheduling/required travel problems will have a new month to fill.

Glad I don't have to fit in chimneies any more. 
We noticed we had almost exactly 80 years between the youngest and oldest chow-hounds at the table! 16 years and 9 months at one end, 95 years and 11 months at the other end!

I'll be well paid with friendship and food once I’m done.
I've lost 10lbs and I’m going to work to not put it all back on today, even if I'm hungry at the end of the day. The Lions won, hope the Cowboys and Ravens both win. I'd like to be 3-0 to start the week in the bragging rights pool.

Neil, I had to ponder that for a moment and now I'm laughing.
Our dinner was grand and a good time was had by all. Today I'm working on a grocery list as I have to bake 2 cakes tomorrow. Oh, and we are stopping at our local Verizon store and buying me a new phone - the Samsungs are on sale for $99.
