Title: Exploding & Imploding Mavericks Windows
Post by: dplank on January 10, 2014, 02:29:03 PM
I can't find a previous posting on this issue, however that doesn't mean that it wasn't there. I just couldn't find it.

When scrolling in Mavericks on my MacBook Pro the screen will enlarge and I have to stop scrolling and pinch the window back to proper size. Also, at times, the window will shrink and there will be however many windows I have open in miniature and I have to click on the appropriate window to get it back to it's original size. I kept thinking that Apple would come out with an update, but as yet, nothing. This is happeningon my wife's MacBook as well.

What's the solution?

Thanks

It's possible that Zoom is activated, which will enable the user to deliberately (or, possibly in this case, accidentally) zoom in or out. Although I'm not using Mavericks, the procedure might be the same. At least in Snow Leopard, go to System Preferences > Universal Access > Seeing and turn Zoom off. See if this helps.

Rather than edit my previous post, I'm replying to myself in case dplank has already read it.

A search of Apple Customer Support revealed that Mavericks is slightly different from Snow Leopard in that Accessibility replaces Universal Access. The relevant article is OS X Mavericks: Zoom pane of Accessibility preferences.

Dear jchuzi,

I tried your suggestions without success. Both problems occurred as I was working on those suggestions. I tried unchecking or checking boxes to make the problem happen, but nothing changed.

Any other ideas?

dplank, does your Accessibility Pref panel look similar to this:

or the Tackad Pref panel look similar to this:

If not, you are not using Mavericks. wink.gif BTW, this zooming does not work in all browsers, mainly Safari and probably others that use the Webkit engine. Also may work only in some Apple apps or third-party apps that have added that support in Mavericks.

Jim:  I see question marks but no pictures. Please check your settings.

EDIT: You must have edited your post while I was posting mine. All is well.   notworthy.gif

My screen looks like your first pic. All the boxes are checked the same way as yours now. The window is acting the same way.

Sorry 'bout the question marks. I was having trouble with either Photobucket or the TS software getting the image sizes to show up. wallbash.gif Thanks for your patience!

Does this behavior occur only in certain apps? Which ones?

Lastly, check your settings on the Trackpad Pref panel. Try un-checking the two-finger tap Gesture and see if that helps. wink.gif

There is no relationship to any app, window or anything. It happens reguardless of situation.

The track pad settings are as you described. No problem there.

Did you try unchecking the two-finger tap setting? wink.gif

Yes, I unchecked the two finger box. It has been unchecked for some time as it was one of the first things I did to try to fix this problem.
