Title: Case of the missing mouse pointer
Post by: chriskleeman on May 19, 2014, 04:24:52 PM
Anybody else had their mouse/trackpad pointer disappear in Mavericks? Doesn't happen all the time, but occasionally it will simply disappear across an open window and not reappear until it's back in the Finder window... then it's visible again.

Weird...  Thinking.gif whistling.gif

I haven't seen this, but apparently it's a known issue for at least a few people: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5489777?tstart=0

The fix is a little weird, but hey, if it works...

Apple Forum 'discussion' (aka: rants/complaints/twisted|convoluted posts/etc.)
What a concept! Attack a problem with logic and consistency!! WOW.gif wink.gif
Hope that wyr'd* fix works for you Chris. Seems that thread has calmed down a bit, maybe most of the folks finally read the whole thing? wink.gif

Another advantage of having a somewhat smaller source of solutions! thumbup.gif

Think that's "weird" not "wired", Jim. wink.gif

Though there have been Bluetooth issues at times, I don't think this one is one of them from the sounds of it.

Just reporting back in... so far so good with having made a slight change in the Energy Saver Preference Panel... both Display Sleep and Computer Sleep are set to the next bar just past 15 minutes, identically and I've not had the issue since.  I had the computer set to sleep at a slightly longer interval than the display and now they match.

I have no idea why this works, but it seems to.
