Title: How do I stop iCloud nagging me?
Post by: Highmac on August 03, 2014, 05:13:28 AM
Keeps telling me it can't connect to iCloud because of a problem with my email address (iMac, OS 10.8.5).

I never asked it to connect to iCloud, I don't WANT it to connect to iCloud. so how do I stop it continually nagging me...?

Please! Pretty please...?  rolleyes.gif

Not sure what Pref panels you have but one may be called "Cloud". It lists things that can use the relatively meager space you have there. If you will simply sign in there (it will require your Apple email address and ID, of course), it will stop "nagging" you. If you simply access that Panel you will notice that each of the items (apps, actually) have a checkbox. If you don't want those apps to store anything in your iCloud space, simply Uncheck their box. Either way, checked or unchecked, the "nagging" will cease. dntknw.gif

Not sure why you don't want to use the space you have, apps like Calendar, Contacts, Keychain, etc. can use that space to stay in sync with the same app on any iDevice, automagically and continuously. wink.gif

Thanks Jim - that seems to have worked smile.gif

Main reason is that we already use Dropbox folders for shared stuff and don't see much point in having two similar setups until we actually need the second one.

Hope that makes sense wink.gif

Of course, by then, it will be too late! eek2.gif As Abe Lincoln said, "You can't have too many backups of important data!" Thinking.gif

Seriously, I'd just uncheck all those apps except maybe Contacts, and, hopefully, keep that "nag" screen away from you eyes! I finally did something similar on the Yosemite Beta I'm running on a spare mini. Almost every startup had that irritating "we can't sync/contact the Mother ship" window. I finally gave in and signed in. blush-anim-cl.gif laughhard.gif
