Title: Disk Utility & bacground process?

Just now my wife heard the laptop working away as I was eating breakfast.  (She said it sounded like the fridge).  I came over and heard the drive churning away on something.  I opened ProcessViewer and saw the Disk Utility was running.  Is there some sort of background process going on?  There's no scheduling with Disk Utility, is there?

The one that comes with 10.2.4- which does repairs on Permissions, etc.
