Title: New firefox esr version 38.1esr
Post by: Jack W on July 06, 2015, 08:13:12 PM
I reverted back to 31.8esr.
v38.1 was a total disaster for me. It got rid of all my LittleSnitch preferences.
But when I tried to recover the LS prefs from 31.8, I couldn't do it.
Now I have to fine tune them all over.
Grrrrrrrrrrrr It's the old carmudgeon coming back to me in spades. Grrrrrrrrrrrr
I also boot into OS X 10.6.8
I still haven't gotten used to Mavericks.
I guess I'm still too set in my ways.

You'll never "get used to 'it'" if you don't use it. And when you get your next Mac, you'll be three OSs behind, at a minimum.
What do you find interesting enough to keep fighting with SN?! :dknw:

I'm running 10.10.3 and FF 39, and I’m really unhappy with FF. I had moved to FF as my main browser and was very happy. Had all my bookmarks set up just so, and everything worked nice and then Firefox broke for me at 38.x -- and apparently it is broken for loads of folks. Lots of complaints. I now have to use Chrome from some things, and even switch to Safari at times. I'd sure love to have one browser that combined the best of Safari, Chrome and FF, and left off all the garbage.
Yes, 10.9 is a step up from 10.6, and you do lose a few things and have learn new stuff. FWIW, Sneakers never made the jump - he was happy with 10.6 and all his games and apps. When he'd bump into a problem with his browser (usually when trying to shop or view a site that required the newer browser), he'd either ask me to do it or he'd use my iMac. LOL

Jim, It's not SL that I'm fighting with, it's the new version of ff.
And I do use Safari when ff won't do some stuff.
What I really don't like about Mavs is the incessant thrashing it does on startup. Activity Monitor shows a whole bunch of processes for quite a while - several mdworker, and others. That go on for several minutes.
And I have turned off a bunch of stuff in Spotlight, if not all. Since I use FindAnyFile and EasyFind.
And Mavs is very slow sometimes, especially on startup, even though I have enough memory that swapping doesn't happen.
And I don't use any Power Apps.
Anyway, it's the carmudgeon in me, and ain't nobody gonna change that.
Enough of the griping, back to Snow Leopard and ff 31.8.0esr.
