Unlike some other drive repair utilities, DiskWarrior doesn't seek to patch up errors on a hard drive. Repairing a drive by patching the problems can easily lead to more problems being introduced and ending up doing even more damage. Quite a few people have had some experience running a drive repair utility only to find that it gives up halfway through the process having trashed their drive as it tried to effect repairs. Some utilities can effectively end up tying themselves in knots as they attempt to repair a hard drive.
Now, the laws of libel being what they are, these other utilities are not named. However, I've always used Norton and now worry it could be one of them (I'm running OS9.1 and the Norton is what came with the iMac) - or is this writer overstating the case?
As mentioned before, I'm no techie, so comments from those with deeper knowledge of the subject would be welcomed. Should I stick with Norton? Just because I haven't had problems so far.....
