EC 10.11.1 seems to have resolved all my issues.

AND I can now use TechTool Pro 8 again. TT  8.0.3 works flawlessly with EC!

Good to know! What were the issues that you were having? For my info, are you using MS Office 2008? If so, is it working OK. How about Photoshop CS5?

I am not a PhotoShopper, so I cannot answer that question.

I do use MS Office 2008 with no problems.

I think EC 10.11.1 runs faster and smoother than 10.11, but that's subjective. I have no benchmarks to prove it.

I do have an external backup drive going bad, but that was starting to happen even before EC.

I also found it improved in speed; although I don't run any Microsoft on my office machine (Libreoffice Vanilla and Pages).  It's
nice to know I could (we have licensing here for that).  I'm probably in the beginning lap of discovering things that don't work!  Thinking.gif

I did check and see whether the reinstalled iPhoto worked after the update and it did!

I downloaded and installed El Capitán this morning. The download was calculated to take 45 minutes but I think it was less than that. The installation took about 30 minutes. Everything went smoothly. I had to reset a few preferences (notably a custom keyboard shortcut for Dashboard) and reinstall Java 6 for Photoshop CS5, plus I had to update two utilities (Cocktail and OnyX), but everything seems to be as I had it in Yosemite.

I'm keeping fingers crossed that nothing major will rear its ugly head. So far, so good.

EC.  I have been fooling around with "split screen"  and it does not appear to work with either MS Office 2008 or Photoshop CS6.  No biggie. A neat feature  otherwise.

So far, I have found two issues with EC:

1. My USB keyboard and USB mouse occasionally do not get enough power when waking from sleep. The only recourse is to do a forced shutdown by holding the power button and then restart. I had thought that my Belkin USB hub was somehow responsible, but that isn't the case. This happens despite the fact that the hub has been disconnected from the computer. Because of the erratic nature of the problem, it's difficult to troubleshoot. According to what I have read, the 10.11.2 beta lists USB issues as one of the things that it contains. I'll see if that update, when released, solves the problem.

2. Since upgrading from Yosemite to EC, my SuperDuper clone will not boot. I started another thread about this but have not had time to fully troubleshoot. My wife's cataract surgery has taken precedence. (She had it done last week and is delighted with the result.)  biggrin.gif The only downside is that the operation seems to have killed her sex urge...  wallbash.gif
