I have an old Mac IIsi and the old Multiscan 15 monitor died. I found a Multiscan 15AV at a local reseller and they said it worked fine. I used the special IIsi adapter and hooked it up and nothing black screen. It trys to boot it but eh power button flashes after I turn it on. I think I have all the right software installed (have the 7.5.5OS on there). If i fiddle with the cable it comes on for about 10-20 seconds and the picture is great!! but then it winks out again. If ifiddle some more and can get it to use only one color(light blue) the screen stays on, not very pretty to look at.It has a new PRAM battery as the other was still the original installed battery. I am kind of really confused as to what the problem is and sure could use some help. I have checked all the online manuals I can find am not getting much info that is useful. Any suggestions or hepl will be appreciated.

beckrich1. Hello. Welcome to the Forum.

I have a macIIsi myself.
Did you really have it running a 15" Multisynch Monitor before this?
At what, 256 Colors?
Do you have a PDS or NuBus Video Card in there?
Lots of links from here.

From the lowendmac page.
"Internal video on the IIci and IIsi, and the Mac II mono and color video cards, will not work with multisync monitors, whether Apple or PC style. Griffin Technology makes the Mac 2 Series Adapter that works with Apple's Multiple Scan monitors and most Mac compatible monitors. There is also a version for using VGA-type monitors on older Macs."

The 15AV monitor requires System Software 7.1. So that's shouldn't be a problem.
Does that adapter you're using have switches? Sometimes they do. And if so, its configuration might perhaps be wrong.

Ok. Which "Adapter" do you have already?

Sorry for delay in getting back, I have the IIsi multisyc adapter designed for the IIsi. Also I had a regular multiscan 15 on there before but it had some internal problems and would have cost more to fix than a new one. As far as I know the adapter is supposed to work and oh yeah there are no switches on it. I am currently reburning he disk and reinstalling the OS 7.5 and updating to 7.5.5. It still seems to be not working it seems to send a signal to the monitor but wont boot it up. Like I said before if I fiddle with the plug into to mac and I can get it set to a pale blue on the screen it seems to stay on. When I put it all the way in it has a great picture for about 20-30 seconds then goes black. I have removed and "sleep " extensions as well as any"power on/off" extensions as well. Thanks for the help !!!

Oh yeah one other thing , kind of a rookie question but how can I tell what kind of video card I have Ie: Nubus??? I can easily take the top off and I have program called Techtools that gives me some info but nevers says Nubus. Thanks

beckrich1. Those Monitors are notorious for problems.

Can you take it back and see if it still works for them?
They've been known to die on a trip from the shop.
Or know anyone else with a mac that could hook up to it?
I don't think Apple System Profile goes back that far.
Do you have any other macs?

Thanks, I'm sort of stuck with it.
No unfortunately I don't have access to another mac.
So I guess I'll maybe look at getting a bigger system amybe and old PPc instead. I have a bunch of old software so I can start all over from there. Thanks for all the help!

I have a sentimental attachment to my IIsi.

But really it's only about a $5 20 MHz machine.
If you don't want to get another Monitor a G3 AIO might be good.
Apple PowerMac G3 All-In-One 233MH $179
