Title: New iPhone... for ME...
Post by: Dreambird on August 25, 2016, 01:37:45 AM
My sister got herself a new 6s iPhone, so she gave me her old 4s iPhone for $50. Works super for phoning which is all I really need it for having an iPad. The thing is "immaculate!" Not a scratch... I guess fussiness runs in our family...  whistling.gif

My Dad... he looked after his things too. smile.gif

So anyway... this thing is on Telus, I think you had no choice but they tell me you now do... so any ideas how I get it to get a Bell sim? My iPad uses Bell for now and then usage and I like it... so...

Thanks!

I think the sim card is accessible  Blocked or Unblocked  but the real question is " is/will telius" un blocked  it or is it already unblocked" ? I know when we got the iPhone5 from Verizon they admitted that it was the first "unblocked" iPhone they provided and the sim card from AT&T and Sprint would work.

DB, you'll almost certainly need to get it unlocked in order to move it to Bell - and that costs $50. Telus has to do it for you (by law) but like all the other major carriers, they charge a ridiculous amount to do it. dry.gif

There are online unlocking services, but far too many have lots of complaints for me to recommend them. As far as I can tell, the iPhone repair places in Calgary charge even MORE to do it.

Hi Paddy,

Thanks... have found out that Telus indeed has to unlock it and just to throw one another annoyance... it HAS to be done by my sister as it is still far as they're concerned her phone...  wallbash.gif So I'm just waiting for her to get to that... she's down with some nasty bug right now and yes it is $50... again...  wallbash.gif

There were 2 other places over at the mall I frequent who do it... but they want... hold on for it...

... $135.00... that's right... one-three-five CDN$$.
It's just another one of those rip-offs! I don't want to do it online as I'd hate to mess up the phone or something. Other option I suppose is to jail-break it which I have done way back when with an iPod Touch and that was just because there were so few apps available at the time from Apple. It didn't hurt the device at all but it is a PITA! wink.gif

OH... yes I did put a Bell sim in it and there is indeed, no one home, so it is locked. Bell is what I want though so Bell is what I'll use.
