Title: Firefox 49.0.2 problem
Post by: Gary S on October 31, 2016, 11:34:51 AM
iMac, El Capitan 10.11.6, 16 Gigs Ram Firefox 49.0.2.

I'm having a problem with a page that won't load properly in Firefox, just a blank page. It will open in Safari. The page is roku.com.

Here are some screen shots in hopes someone knows what may be wrong.

TIA

FWIW, that page is fine for me in FF 49.0.2 and Sierra. I noticed, from the first screenshot, that you had a slightly different URL in the address bar. The one that I have is https://www.roku.com/index

Thanks Jon.

I still get a blank page at https://www.roku.com/index.

I wonder why. I thought it might have been a conflict in my extensions, as you can see I've disabled a few ad blockers. Hummmm.....

Looks like you have multiple JavaScript (ads) and Flash blockers enabled. Might be any or all of them completely blocking the site. If you don't have those blockers running in Safari, that's a sign of what may be happening. I find it more efficient to have only the best blockers running, the fewer the better. Makes it easier to disable fewer to see if that's what is causing a page to "hide". wink.gif

I think your right Jim. I disabled all but Adblock Plus and Adblock Plus Pop-up Addition.

I'll see what happens after I restart.

I can see the site (or the Canadian version thereof) fine in both Safari and FF with Adblock Plus enabled.

Have you deleted the cookies for the site? Sometimes weird things happen and deleting the cookies gets everything working again.

Hi Paddy,

I went here Refresh Firefox and Refreshed it.

I'm not having a problem with that Roku site anymore but I have to re-setup Firefox with all the add-on Extensions, especaly . My Plug-ins are still there. Everything else
is in a folder called Old Firefox Data. I have the folder on my Desktop but I don't think there is anything there I could use.

Another thing is that it is not checking my spelling which is usually terrible,

If you can find the time to help(anybody), I would apprieciate it!

Here is a screenshot of what I had in my Extensions folder.

I really need to check my spelling though first!

TIA

I got the spelling taken care of  in FF prefs. Don't know how I missed it.

I also found this on Reddit which I did. Safe Search-Reddit I don't whether it was a good
idea or not but I did it anyways.

I do not like Google and it's just getting worse.

I think it has something to do with "age". I mean the age of the app, of course. whistling.gif scram.gif

It's all fixed, have half the Add-ons and it is very fast. No lags at all.

I've been using Firefox a long time and it may be long in the tooth but I still like it.
