Post by: Dreambird on July 27, 2003, 01:26:02 PM
... running OS X if I used one of the upgrades would it be similar to a new machine as in "stuck with OS X?"

Oh yeah...oops.gif  upgrades meaning one of the ones mentioned here.

Most if not all should run OS 9.x smile.gif

Some info.

If you're going to get one, ask for sure.

What makes the newer G4 machines not Boot 9.x is not the Processor.

It's more in the Motherboard and Chipsets. smile.gif

Good articles... smile.gif Thanks Kelly!

I've got a better grasp on what they do now, I had the idea it involved a "motherboard swap" but apparently it's just the chip.

I may send a couple of emails and put my question to them... probably the Lombard will get an upgrade before my Pismo... as the owner is considerably "richer" than me...  dry.gif  wink.gif

In any case I have custody of the Lombard for about a week coming up during which I promised an upgrade to OS9.1 at least for now... if he goes for an upgrade soon, I'll get to test drive it for sure!
