I received an email today from Heidi Rubinstein letting me know that her father, Harvey had passed away in January.
Harv was one of the original founders of Techsurvivors, known here as "Pendragon". As I wrote to his daughter, he was well known for his intelligent, thoughtful responses and his dry wit. At one point he offered to take on a large part of the expense of our changing servers, but fortunately we didn't need it as we found another route. He had retired from TS service a few years ago as well as his work. My last email correspondence with him was of course Mac related in which he generously offered to send me an unused laptop if I knew of someone who could use it.
The world is poorer without him.

Sorry to hear of our loss. IIRC it was Pendragon who brought me in to TS after I'd posted a question on the Apple forums. I've had a look on the Apple site, but the posts don't go back far enough (i.e. to 2001) to confirm that.
Either way, I remember him as a patient poster who was always glad to help newbies get their heads around their problems.
My condolences to his family.

I communicated with Harv privately, to some extent, and always enjoyed his posts at Fine Tuned Mac and its predecessor, MacFixit. He always had a gentle sense of humor and I'm saddened by his passing.

Not the kind of news I want to see. :nono: Will be remembering his family, hope they have similar good memories like those of us here.

A sad day indeed. One of the old guard. Please send our (my) best wishes to his wife. xx

I remember Pendragon fondly. Thank you, Krissel, for letting us know.
Godspeed, Pendragon.

Harv was the person who told me about TS.
And I am sure glad he did.
May he rest in peace.
