Today is the first time I've tried AirDrop since the most recent iOS update on an iPhone 8. I cannot get the phone and my Mac Mini (OS 10.14.2) to communicate.
I've tried various online sourced fixes. I've rebooted the phone. Reset network settings. Toggled in and out of Airplane mode and restarted the phone. Made sure that AirDrop is set to "everyone" on both phone and computer, checked that both WiFi and Bluetooth are on. No luck yet trying to transfer a couple of photos from the phone to the desktop. This was never a problem before the recent update to iOS.
Suggestions?

Problem solved. I turned off the VPN on the desktop computer. Right away AirDrop returned.
That seems to happen with certain apps and the VPN. I don't know why it suddenly occurred to me to check this. :Thinking:

Glad you found a fix, of course! It’s strange that the last the I try is so often the one that works! My problem is I can’t even remember having the problem before much less the solution!! :blush-anim-cl: :laughhard:

I've seen this on other forums where someone finds a solution to their problem but doesn't notify those who may have been trying to help. I didn't want to leave anyone hanging if they had the same issue.
And yes, it certainly was the last thing that I attempted!
