Why wasn't there a notification of this event?!! :wallbash:
Who was "on watch"?! :nono:
What did they know and when?!!!
-
My researcher tells me it crashed immediately. It's the history that's still repeating itself...
But what could it have been... :whistling:
-
It's the history that's still repeating itself.
Quite so, only the length of the cycle seems to change. :wallbash:  But that's not exactly the event I'm writing about. :p
-
My memory fails me, Jim. Please tell us.
-
I guess many here are too young and assume things have "always been this way"! :p Others, like me, are having enough trouble just remembering what day of the week it might be!
According to this story at Fast Design (https://www.fastcompany.com/90423457/50-years-ago-today-the-internet-was-born-in-room-3420), the Internet was first used on October 29, 1969 around 10:29 pm PT! 50 years old!!! :WOW:
-
I didn't know that Al Gore was old to enough (at that time) to invent it!
-
Our school in Shallow Water, Kansas sponsored a donkey basketball game about that time. Lotsa laughs!
-
Mr. Gore actually graduated from Harvard just a few months earlier. But he did not study Computer Science and was not involved in creating the code that allowed the Internet to become a reality. :nono:
I would advise everyone to take what some one says, especially if they are talking as a politician, with several grains of salt. Unfortunately, some people don't seem to understand how to use a powerful tool like the web to do some 'fact-checking' before they hit the Send button... :wallbash:
-
I recall reading that Abraham Lincoln warned that you should not believe everything that you read on the Internet.
-
Perhaps he was omniscient? A rare trait in politicians, as well as many other groups...
-
I was only 14 so it wasn't my fault! :p
