The following came from Medicare.gov and it has been mentioned on many other media, no loss in repeating and practicing around your friends and family.

Luckily I have always been a soap hoarder. I love the stuff so we have enough to wash our hands forever.

Saw an interesting method to help us remember to stop touching our faces. :doh: :stop:

Take an onion and slice it in half. Hold one half in a cupped hand for 15 seconds. Wrap the other half in plastic wrap for later use on a hamburger. Discard the first half, unless you are preparing several hamburgers
   or making onion soup.
      Season to taste.
         Bring to a simmer for several minutes.
            Serve while warm.

oh,
   sorry,
      about that memory thing...

After holding that onion half in your hand, when you next bring your hand close to your face, you should get an odiferous reminder of what you do not want to do! :whistling:

It will probably also remind you to "wash your hands"! :coolio:

To prevent people from getting too close, rub your armpits with garlic. BTW, that also is an effective method of birth control. :toothgrin:

We went to town in our horse mucking out clothes. No one came near us. Next time I might take Lambie with me. He smells of pee!  :toothgrin:

Maybe this should go to the "Humor" thread. :dntknw: It was amusing to me, anyway.

Went back to the tax preparer yesterday to retrieve my package of data and copies of the tax forms that will get sent in a couple of days. They had a system set up so their people and a client would both be protected during the current social distancing behaviors. I'd already been told that only the same two people would be touching each package, so they were limiting contact inside their office as much as possible that way.

When a package was ready for pickup, we were to call ahead to give them a "heads-up". When you arrive, there is no need to enter their offices. Simply knock-code the last four digits of your SSI#* and they would pass the package through the letter drop slot in the door.

Of course, I was wearing my nitrile gloves and when I got home I needed to wipe down the package. I used my favorite 'cleaner' in the kitchen; Clorox® Spray Cleanser + Bleach! Normally that goes on the counter tops... If you spray a manila folder you get what appears in the attached image. :rofl: Now I know why SWMBO says to be careful with that stuff!! :whistling: :doh:

Wait. You *mail* your tax papers? I have my people send everything electronically and I get any refunds (normally) in a few days. I don't spend money on postage, no standing in line at the germ laden PO, total peace of mind. ;) This year I was even able to pay my 2021 state personal taxes electronically. My people set it up and poof bill paid and all done. Of course I did all this back in early March. :p

LOL! I put all envelopes and cardboard in garage for 24 hours, then go out there and open, dump contents into a clean hamper, toss envelopes/cardboard/paper into recycle bin, come in, wash hands. Wipe down door knobs, grab hamper and bring it in. Wash hands again because I'm paranoid :p and wipe down door knobs again for the same reason. Then I look at what arrived the day before.

:toothgrin: No, I went back to "retrieve my package of data and copies of the tax forms". The "forms" were sent and received today since that is done electronically. Nor will I be writing/mailing checks. Those will be electronically withdrawn on the 4/15 (we opted not to wait the extra 90(?) days). Of course, there are already invoices, phone discussions and work sheets showing what we and the preparers did and why.

There is no postage, of course. As for standing in lines at the post office we don't do that, we have a mailbox that the post-person checks Mon-Sat. They also often deliver our mail on those days. About once a month we have to take stuff in our bocx to another house on the street. And almost that often, a neighbor will bring our stuff that they got. Apparently numbers in front of a street name are really confusing to mail carriers. :dntknw:

If someone wants to return something that has a pre-paid label, and it won't fit in the mailbox, we still don't take it to the post office. We use the drive up window at a local computer store that has a mini-post office inside. So far, no bacteria nor virus' have been known to be transmitted via electrons through the wirse to and from a microphone or speaker.

Of course, if it absolutely, positively has to get there and fast, I call one of the people who work to pay my retirement!! :thumbup: :clap:

There are no "personal" taxes in TH, only thing taxed seems to be interest earned from out of state investments. That went down to 2% this year, 1% next, gone in 2022. Of course, there are property (city and county), sales (city, county and state) and auto tag taxes...

I think you have the "stay clean" drill down well! Sounds a lot lot what we do. We order on-line from Kroger and stay in the car when it is delivered, pop the rear lid open and holler a big "Thank you"! Only have to get out if the lad forgets to press the "Close" button.

GD is taking some sewing classes from my wife. We have lots of scrap material and figure now is a great time to practice using the machine to make simple, pleated masks. I remembered I had a few masks that I occasionally wear when mowing the yard. I tend to mow without them; it's hot (and humid!) enough around here without wearing something to block any breeze!! 3 of them say something like "similar to N-95", the other 3 make no claims. HD/Lowe's/etc. are all "out-of-stock", of course. We figure we can wear one if we absolutely have to visit someplace with people in it.

Many clinics are asking folks to wait in their cars until time to actually see the doc. I hope we can do that for the rest of my life! :yes: The worst place to go if you are healthy is a doctors office waiting room! :eek: :rolleyes:

xABD, I'm glad you're using the nerdy way of filing your taxes. I was worried that you'd gone old school on us.  :blueeek:

A drive up window is something that only exists in my town at one of the banks. A computer store? That doesn't exist around here.

Your state has sales taxes, mine has personal income tax. Not sure which is the best way, but they both sure take $$$ out of our pockets. ;)  Oh, that all of life could be free. HAHAHA

Good on your GD and wife for the sewing lessons. As part of home-schooling, my youngest daughter-in-law is teaching her 3 youngest to sew. The middle of those is so excited, they bought her her very own sewing machine. The kid is in absolute glory!

And those clinics ... here you do a telephone visit. You only see a doc face to face if you are super-duper sick, and then it's the ER with rigorous screening before they let you in. I'm in total agreement of waiting rooms filled with sick people.

Oh, you shop at Kroger. I do the same at Fred Meyer's, which is a Kroger store under a different name. Works great, even before this virus landed.

Time to go do something else. Stay safe, stay home, stay healthy.

In other health news: Beware of purported "Immunity Tests". You will probably be surprised at how often they are really giving a very high percentage of false-positives. That kind of result can give you a dangerous false sense of security and put your contacts if greater risk of infection. Beware of anything you get from a web site. Period. Be sure your doctor knows the specificity and accuracy of any test.
