Title: Is it possible to uninstall 10.0.4 and/or 10.2.3?

Since I have never used either, and cannot make them work, I would like to erase, trash, or uninstall both, but cannot understand how  to go about it without wiping out my whole 9.2 universe which is on the same single platform.
The 9.2 adds up to close to 10 gigs, and I donot have even a small zip drive. Even a large one doesn't close, does it?

Just throw anything that isn't OS 9 stuff in the trash.  

Not ideal, but it will work.

Things like Library, mach_Kernal etc.

You need some way to backup your stuff though.

What machine do you have?

Hi kelly,
My profile should show iMac600/OS9.2/384. From you previous suggestion to trash kernel, etc I now have no kernel. But when I was going to trash mach, Sherlock told me they go way back to 1995! and so does Library! Doesn't that mean lots of those data belong to pre-X OS items?

What's the best way to backup a gig of 9.2 stuff?

I have OS X on a separate partition, these are all the os x Jaguar files installed on this partition. Trash them all...but be careful not to trash the OS 9 system.

The files with the period or "dot" ( . ) are invisible in OS X, they may be invisible in 9 as well (I can't remember).

All the files and folders listed above are OS X and can be safely trashed, but backup anything of value in your user folder( /Users/user-name/ ) and Applications folder.

The best way to backup OS9.2 would be to get a CD-R burner and
copy it to a CD. The System Folder will fit on one CD. The rest of your stuff like OS9 Applications etc., can be backed up the same way.

nels. I see you have the CDRW.  

You just need to break it up in to 650 MB or less portions. CDRs are cheap.

You don't need to burn everything.

Just the data or  whatever that can't be replaced.

You can always reinstall Applications. It's just what they make you need to back up.

You don't really need to burn your entire System Folder for example,

maybe just a copy of all your Preferences. That can be handy.

nels96, the absolute easiest way to backup is to buy an external hard drive and backup to that. It is merely a matter of dragging your hard disk icon onto the external drive icon and waiting while everything is copied. If you do decide to buy an external drive get one at least twice the size you think you need--three times is better. This costs a little more, but it certainly is convenient.

Why don't nuttin' ever come easy?!

I was tickled pink when Kelly and GaryS turned me on to sorting out my necessary files and using my iMac's CD-R burner to make cheap backups. (I have a bunch of new CD-Rs I have never used).And I only need to backup a bunch of ClarisWorks 4 spreadsheets and text files, my Quicken files, etc.
Anyway, I pulled out my iMac textbook,and proceeded to carefully follow instructions to burn data to a CD. I tried twice, once with enuff data to almost fill it up (500mb), and again with a smaller batch (150mb). Both times the burn-in  stopped during the track writing phase "There is a problem", with the Error Code -7932

What next???

Apple says try burning at a slower speed or use different CDRs.
