I will take all necessary precautions, but I want my vote to count. I urge all TS members and their friends and family to seriously consider this instead of voting by mail.

In the August Primary, TN added the Covid-19 virus as a reason for absentee voting. Our State Supreme Court (meeting via Zoom?) decided that would not be allowed in the General. Fortunately, SWMBO and I are over the minimum age limit and always vote by mail. We may forego that method this year and use 'early voting'. Reports from the Primaries said most sites were very lightly populated. Of course, Primaries are usually much less attended anyway. :Thinking: :dntknw: Maybe just find a couple of real respirators, over a gaiters, along with our rubber gloves... bring your own pen.

Post by: krissel on August 18, 2020, 04:37:55 AM: NJ is mailing every registered voter a ballot. But we will also have at least one dropbox in each district strictly for ballots. That's what I intend to do. We also have the option of in-person but that will be with a provisional ballot that will be held to make sure you didn't vote otherwise.

However, general election voting is by definition political, so we would have to completely ignore any reference to the act of choosing our representatives if we want to be technical.

Citing facts as they develop are unfortunately too touchy a subject, even when they affect my right to vote. :unsure:

Are you sure about that? Since Oregon has been voting by mail for some time, I would suggest visiting the State/County Voter Registration site and checking the details as to timing and physical location. Here is a link to the page there with a list of County Election Officials that should be able to help (https://sos.oregon.gov/elections/Pages/countyofficials.aspx) with your situation. It may be that you can vote in Oregon (or any other State) at least until you actually register in another one. And that would probably apply even if simply moving from one county (or any other voting district) to another. I think I even saw a page with info on updating one's registration info. :dntknw:

My whole adult(?) life was lived making sure i had all the facts I could gather. My life and the lives of my crew and passengers depended on having those facts. Facts are not subjective. They matter. 'Don't go out without them.' :salute:

Yes, Jim, I'm sure. I've already checked with my local elections office.[The move and arrive dates just over-lap too much] It's a little bump that doesn't mean a thing.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree there. Every vote counts. Especially this year. I want to see a 'landslide' so there are no "questions". The final results may be late, anyway, because of having to count so many mail-ins. They probably have to be counted manually since the signatures have to be matched; not something a local computer will be able to do. :wallbash: :inspect:

In New York State, this option extends from Oct. 24 to Nov. 1 and, in our area, there are five locations to choose from. We had contemplated voting by mail, but we don't want to contribute to the burden of an already-overloaded post office. Naturally, we will wear masks and observe social distancing.

While my wife and I can vote by mail since we are both over 65 (one of the requirements for "Absentee" voting in TN), our GD obviously can't use that age option. While the State wisely allowed using the pandemic as a reason in the Primaries, they have decided that the virus has 'disappeared' and we can 'return to normal'. :wallbash: Who needs science with only 200,000 deaths? :wacko: So our GD and my wife and I will all vote early which had much smaller crowds in the Primary, and will again in the General.

The USPS claims they can easily handle 500 million mail in ballots since that is about half what they handle every day. OTOH, my last order of meds took much longer than normal by sitting in the next to last facility over a week. That facility is less than 30 miles from our house. The shipment which usually takes 4-5 days, took over 2 weeks. :dntknw:
