Title: Heartwarming
Post by: Frances144 on November 21, 2020, 07:39:54 AM
Our local Museum did a lovely thing last week....

They sent every Shetland student away from home, a present from Shetland. There are about 400 students living outwith.

"The project aimed to deliver a “peerie hansel fae hame” during a time when students may be struggling at university accommodation following outbreaks (Covid) on the mainland."

peerie = small
hansel = gift
hame = home

So they did..... a Fair Isle knitted item (hat, headband, gloves, scarf), some Shetland soap, a Shetland flag pin and "puffin poo" (white chocolate balls).

My youngest who is at Bristol University doing a Masters in Chinese translation was sent a package and she was very touched, almost tears.  I think a lot of them are struggling at the moment. I know Floss has her moments.  They are changing Christmas plans every day and there is no real information.  She is coming home early now as the Government are making a "window" for students to travel during.

Anyway, I just thought I would share this heartwarming story in this world of nothing but grim news.

Thanks Frances!

This one is not as current, but still shows how we never know when we can help someone.
