Mostly retired 2011 MBP was/is on its way to SIL to assist in her new embroidery effort. Looks like all she needs is to download patterns via internet via :sos: a browser and a flash drive. SOOO the MBP can do all of that. I just wiped the hd there she goes. UNFORTUNATELY. the recovery mode does not go back to High Sierra so here we sit with a MBP and no OSX :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: Looks like "open legacy patcher" may offer a solution, but the guy goes so fast I get a headache. any ideas on how to load up a OS ??

A web search gives me 10 video’s. Perhaps one of those will be a slower speaker. Of course, the search provides about a dozen web pages with text instead of video, so those could be easier to get a grasp of what you need to do in installing OCLP.
In your situation (no macOS and no OS backup ) what do you have to lose? Try OCLP and hope for the best. Please let us know how the whole operation goes! :D :thanx:

A continuing saga. I gave up on the OCLP, but not the goal of getting her access to some embroidery patterns.
I had the good sense to totally back up the entire hd before erasing it. SOOO why not reload it? Now I have the old MBP with some notable differences. OSX 10 vs 10.6 for example. It will access the site(s) she wants (at least 2 that I tried). Next project is/was erasing all of the previous data, home, documents, applications etc, lots of idiosyncrasies. Now in a holding pattern as she scheduled for total knee end of the week.

Great!
Whose knee, yours or hers? Be sure to get a knee with a zerk grease fitting (https://www.mcmaster.com/products/zerk-grease-fittings/grease-fittings-for-unthreaded-holes-6/), standard model should be fine.

Hers, Zerks included I would hope
