Title: Amortization calculator/schedule
Post by: sluggo on March 18, 2026, 10:57:58 AM
I've been poring through the App Store. I don't really want to spend $50 or $60 on an app.
I recently sold a business. I financed the sale. I'm looking for an amortization app for my Mac desktop. Other than the obvious functions that use the amount/interest/term to calculate the payment and remaining term I'd like to find something to let me keep a running total of transactions as well as recalculate and let me save the data if the borrower makes extra partial payments here and there.
Even something online is OK if I can perform the functions I need. Has anyone found and used something for this?

I would think that Numbers could do that for you. A basic spreadsheet. There seem to be many templates for that kind of need. Just search for something like "spreadsheet to track loan payments". Most will be for Excel but Numbers can use those if the math is not too complicated. I'd look for one that tracks payments (Yes/No) in one column, of course, you might want to add a column for 'date of payment' (if not included in the template.

A search turned up this link:  https://iworkcommunity.com/content/personal-loan-amortization-schedule/
I'll experiment with it later today and see if it'll work for me.
