I currently use Spectrum as my ISP. Spectrum periodically jacks up the price but, after complaining and threatening to ditch Spectrum for Archtop (recently available in my neighborhood at much lower prices), Spectrum cut my rate for the next two years and upped my download and upload speeds. It is likely that, after the two years, Spectrum will again play games with their rates. I have no qualms about switching to Archtop except for the fact that of my three emails (one for me, one for my wife), those two are attached to Spectrum servers. If I make the switch, does Spectrum have an obligation to keep my emails or can they just drop them? I set up an iCloud email for myself when my Spectrum email started having issues that Spectrum was unable to resolve (my wife's email is fine).
Switching to a different email opens a can of worms. Many websites use my Spectrum email as my login ID and it seems that there is no way to change my contact email.

First, here's what the "Horse" said back on 2022 (There may be newer info at Spectrum's site):
SPECTRUM ARCHIVES: 2020 (https://community.spectrum.net/discussion/170846/will-i-lose-emails)
Ask Leo (https://askleo.com/what-happens-when-you-close-an-email-account/) has some newer (2025) info and recommendations. NOTE: I don't know is Spectrum has a "Grace Period".
R-TECH (https://www.r-tech.com/blog/how-to-keep-your-email-address-when-switching-internet-providers) has advice similar to Ask Leo but you may not want the G-Mail and Apple Mail combo.
The "contact-all-family/banks/companies/important people" before canceling/changing email services/accounts still applies!
Bottom line seems to be betting whatever company you use for email service is only as safe as the whims of that company! Hopefully, you know ahead of time when the company is sold/goes bankrupt/merges with a company with little respect for customers/etc. Perhaps an email-only company might be best for mail and you can then select the most economical web connection company.
