Title: Need your advise (TS)
Post by: OJ on August 13, 2003, 12:47:50 PM
Hi everybody, sorry I haven't been around lately but now I'm back and I need your help on a couple of things. First thing is I did a new Install (10.2.6) on my wifes G4, but I made a boo-boo when I spelled her name in the User or Computer's Owners name box. Is there a way to re-write or change her name so that her name is spelled correctly this time without having to reinstall again.
Second we use Dialup AOL X at home and I recently connected her G4 DVI Desktop and my G4 DVI TiBook together via ethernet with a Belkin 5 port 10/100 network switch so we could file share and network our Macs. My question is, would it be possible and how to share our Internet Dialup connection or not? I really appreciate your input on this and keep up the good work TS.

OJ,

You can change the name of the computer's owner by going to System Preferences/ Sharing / Computer Name.
I don't know if you can share your dialup connection but I'm sure somebody will come along with the answer.

Thanks guys for the advise so far but I don't have a DSL connection to the Internet, it's dial-up. I do have an Airport card in my TiBook though. About going to change the name of my computer in the System Prefs, File Sharing tip, I gave it a try but the name was changed on the Screen Saver but not on the Login Pannel.

Don't think it says you have to have DSL.  huh.gif
