Title: A little bit of help please
Post by: JohnKentucky on August 16, 2003, 03:51:42 PM
I have this site where you can set up a "store" and I want to make a calendar...more for myself. Not trying to sell anything, so won't include a link. But, if any of you all are interested in seeing, I can do that.
What I would like is if you all have time, to go through my pics and pick out the 12 best pics for me. I have asked Mriousbe and cyberpetrah. Just list the #'s of the 12 best..thanks!
Taken June 2003 in Hawaii with a 3.2 digital camera.

Wish I could see them all.
It took 5 minutes to load the first 17 on the thumbnail page then it stopped. Tried the slide show but after several minutes all I had was the frame for the show. I hate to say it but the .mac accounts are almost inaccessible from slower dialup and/or non X users.
I have a .mac account which I can only access from my folks eMac and their 50kps download speed. From home I time out before even loading my mailbox index. Sometimes I can get partial loads from my PB which is running X. Total waste of money. The only thing I can access is photo albums I set up prior to the .mac going commercial last summer. I had little trouble til then.

Thanks guys!
Krissel..sorry. Don't know what to do...other than emailing them to you. But I'm sure you don't want 29 pictures of Hawaii clogging your email

Very nice pictures
Is very hard to choose
Ok. I choose: 1,3,5,7,10,17,19,20,21,22,23,27
But I suggest that choose those that you like best, and also I suggest if you can edit those that levels the horizon of the sea. I don't know if I explain myself

JK. Great pictures!!! Hard choice if one had to just pick a few.
I tried a couple of times to check them all before, yet as Krissel mentioned, mac.com was hiccuping like always on and off. Another {slow-up loading} I noticed was the actual size of your pictures. Mac.com is keeping the enlarged pics in check 'but' if you grab one and open it with *say preview* to it's actual size the picture is a might on the large size yet in K's, they're just fine. I pulled pic #20 (168K) just to see how it would look as a desktop image. ~~ Unbelievably Fantastic !!! ~~ Clarity was sooooo sharp! They would differently make very good desktop pics!
But ... back at the ranch with mac.com ... besides the fact with mac.com and its on going problems, I can see why it takes some time to load each enlarged image. Here is what pic #20 showed in PS. Click Here

1, 2, 3, 9, 16, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28, 1A
Loaded fine in OS X on dial-up (at my parents) so it must be something to do with OS 9. That's a bummer.
Nice pics! One little suggestion - straighten the horizon line in the ones where it's crooked (it will require a bit of cropping after the rotation in order to get the photo itself level).

I didn't have any trouble on OS9 on the cable modem. They're just large images...I think.
A couple of them took a little more time to load.

Thanks anyway John but no, it would take an hour to download those pics through my email.
I'm visiting my folks tomorrow and will try it from there.

To give you an idea about the size that I mentioned before. Here is your #20 pic JK unaltered without the assistance of mac.coms size enhancer governor. Click Here.
Makes one incredible nice desktop though.

Great pics, John. . .I'm sitting here fighting off a case of the flu, and wishing I were there! And now I've got a chapped chin from drooling over the scenery. . .Don't know how you could got wrong with any of them. Only suggestion would be to make sure you organize what ever you use, so that there is contrast from month to month.

( krissel posting under Dad's log-in... )
Yippee, am at my folks and they all loaded fine and are beautiful.
Favorite 13
1,3,14,17,18,19,20,22,27,3a,4a,5a, (toss up on 23 or 26)
NOTE: I picked 13 because you can have one for each month and one for the cover of the calendar.
Suggest #1 for the cover. Also rubber stamp out the light spot or reflection on the tree in #27.
Also, #18 and 2a are the exact same picture.

Nice job jb.
One change, since 18 and 2a are the same picture, together they get 8 votes which puts that pic in the most liked category. Sorry, that messes up your chart and calendar choices.
From an artistic point of view the months would have to be mixed up more so that similar pics (like January/February and May/June) aren't next to each other. That is, the months would be next to each other but not the pics...
Anyway, John you could also reverse some of the images if they are too similar though that might throw the balance off, you'd have to experiment to see.
So, when's the calendar going to be ready, how much and can I put my order in now?
