Tonye:
Someone from Spain tried to sell my nephew a system just like that (Sony Vaio) sealed in the box. She emailed him with the offer because he bid on a similar computer on eBay. That computer sells for much more than that, but he easily talked down to $645. She of course didn't haggle just wanted her money sent Western Union. My nephew was smarter than that. It was a scam. If he'd sent her the money, he could kiss it goodbye. Beware use a PayPal system etc.

Leo, did you see this thread on the eBay discussion boards?
Tonye, you didn't list the processor speed or model number for the Vaio, so it is a little difficult to tell what exactly you're looking at - but the monitor alone on eBay has gone for $227 to $315 over the past month.
The entry-level RS300 models with 2.4 GHz Pentium4 processors and the 80GB drive & DVD-ROM drive sell for $829 from Sony - WITHOUT the monitor. Is this the model? I'd be highly suspicious - but it all depends on the seller. Lowest price for the RS310 on CNET was $749 with a rebate - again, no monitor.
Can you post the seller info? (auction listing? website?) We'd be better able to offer opinions on whether or not it's a good deal if you can do that.

Hi Tonye,
That "link" you gave is just a file with it's path information on your local machine. Noone here is able to read or see what's in it.
What we need is a real link to the actual page at E-bay. If you visit that sale page in your browser, then copy/paste the actual link from the location bar to TS. We can all click on it and go directly to the page at E-bay just as you do.
see ya,

Tonye,
Could you go back and fix that post with the long path name? Just delete the path name or something?
It's hard reading this thread ...... scrolling.

Hi Tonye,
After looking at the e-bay sale page and reviewing the seller's feedback, my opinion is that this is a good deal. The seller doesn't appear to have sold something this large in the recent past, but if he's been gathering this good reputation just so he could pass off this sale as a scam, he's worked awfully hard. I would use a trusted escrow service and grin over my prize.
see ya

Diana, thanks for the input. I was getting a little nervous, but i do have a home address as well as his telephone number, not to mention that eBay and my Bank would probably work together and get my money bacvk for me if it were a scam.
I also noticed on eBay people selling similar models without the monitor for 679.00. I am going to think POSITIVE and enjoy my new PC when it arrives. Ilet you know when I get it too.

Paddy:
Thanks for the link. I'm going send it to my nephew.
Tonye:
Good luck, I hope it works out for you. Of course, I will never buy anything from eBay. I don't even go to their site.
