Title: Buying THIS online?
Post by: Gary S on August 29, 2003, 09:07:32 AM
Alright, I'm trying to cut down on spam.

I want to pay for this "Labels-X program" here, Labels-X from the company, Unsanity but they want my email addy, my address and my telephone number to buy online.

What do you think?

Unsanity seems to be a very reputable company; least wise I have seen no reports where they have abused the data given to them. Of course, you can always make up a phone number.  But if you are still apprehensive, you may wish to order by phone.

While I think Labels X is as great program, colored files & folders will be available in Panther, so if you can wait…

I've ordered on-line from Unsanity, Gary, on more than one occasion - - Harv had also recommended their products to me - - and I very much doubt that they misused my address. They/It seems like a responsible group.

Never use your main email if possible.

Use one of your legit 'web-mails'. Yahoo, lycos, excite for entrance.
All they care about is a way to contact you for whatever reason.

Far as phone number goes.
Most those folks don't like spam in their emails either.
Bet a large percentage of the phone numbers they get are bogus and they know it plus understand why.
Do you really think they'll use the phone source as a first choice too contact you?
Yo Mr. Owner (bossman)! I'm going to ring up your phone bill [doesn't matter if they have access to an 800 no# etc etc. They still have an allotment per month] because I don't want to go the email road.
It is all write offs but if they can, they'll go the easiest path.
Most cases, I doubt if it matters one way or another though.
They give out a customers info ... they're cutting off there own bread and butter.
Bad business practice.

Now if you are really, really worried about handing out your landline number.
Just give them Rob Ws number. smile.gif

I called them and there was no one there and left a message and they said they'd get back to me as soon as possible........that was this morning.....they must have taken Friday off cause they haven't called. I'll do it by email with Yahoo. smile.gif

Well I purchased Lables-X with my old email address. I figure I'll keep it since my Charter cable now lets you have 5 email addresses and I only was using 3.

Anyways, I installed it and it's great! biggrin.gif What amazed me was that all my files that I had moved over from my OS9.1 computer,  that were labled are now labled automatically!

great program...thank for suggesting it Harv!  laugh.gif

Glad to hear it all worked out. clap.gif

And, by color coding your Jaguar folders & files, it will be easier, when upgrading to Panther, to determine which files were originally created in Jaguar.

I use Unsanity's haxie for window shades and I like it a lot.  The only time I hear from them is when there's an update to the haxie.  I think I get the update news only because I put my name on their update mailing list.
