Hi,
Suddenly a booting problem on my 9600 os9.1..
Got 2 firewire drives , obliged now to shut down one drive to continue the booting process...
What's the problem, what to do?
Thanks for your help

What happens if you don't shut down the offending drive?

I assume these are external? What exactly is the setup?
Any reason why you can't just turn it on after boot?
Tried replugging, switching wires? Does the FW drive boot OK after startup?

Check in the Apple System Profiler to see if the drive is seen. Not that it necessarily will be as my ASP doesn't report my FW drive but it's a start.
Then open Disk First Aid, not Drive Setup. See if Disk First Aid sees the drive. It won't show in DriveSetup.
Was it formatted with a Mac driver or a third party like Radiologic?
Try replugging the wires at the drive and the PCI card. Then try switching the cables on the two drives to see if that makes any difference.
Is the drive powered by separate AC power and not through the PCI card? It should be.
Do you have any utilities like Norton's or Disk Warrior that may be able to see the drive and mount it?
Do you have a friend with a Mac with firewire where you can test the drive?
