Title: Problems installing printer driver in Classic
Post by: geodon005 on September 02, 2003, 11:21:17 AM
I recently reformatted my iBook from 2 partitions into one and have reinstalled just about everything; however, I have been unable to install the driver for my HP DeskJet 812C. I have the correct driver installer, and the installer runs through its usual setup, but when I click on the driver in the Chooser, up pops a dialog box telling me the driver could not be loaded. Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks. .

Hi Don. smile.gif

Can you Boot into OS 9.x on that iBook and try that way?

Not in Classic.

Great idea. . .  I should have thought of that!  Unfortunately, after trying it and installing, OS 9 froze. . . as near as I can tell, something called the HP Inkjet Engine caused the freeze. Uninstalled everything, reinstalled, but, als, the same results.

Don. Found this. smile.gif

"HP DeskJet 812c driver install issue Guillaume Brasseu writes: "I bought a HP DeskJet 812c USB printer. The software installation failed with a -23 error. Turns it the Installer was trying to install Desktop PrintMonitor along with the drivers. Choosing Custom Install and selecting only the drivers got it to work and the printer works very well."

Worth a try.
