I'm sure such inefficiency could not possibly occur in any other country (yeh, right!).
Always on except when it's off...
It made me smile, anyway (still waiting for broadband to reach my neck of the woods - our exchange is "enabled" but we're too far down the line
).

I'm in Buffalo NY and I have Adelphia's Power Link Broadband running at an average 1.5 Mbps for 3 years now. In all that time, it has NEVER had any downtime during my waking hours that I know of. When Power Link says always on, they mean it.

ljocampo Don't know if you know the rule of Sod's law by the same name in the US - "what can go wrong will..." but you're tempting providence saying your line has never disconnected!
I can't understand why Mr Eason wasn't overjoyed being told his line was due for reconnection on 1 January 3000...

Highmac:
I think we call Sod's law Murphy's law here in the USofA. Providence aside, Adelphia cable's Power Link boardband is the best the US has to offer (IMO). However, I'll keep Sod in mind.

BTW:
Before I had cable modem boardband, I had DSL, and it WAS prone to Murphy's law, at least until, it went kaput altogether; they went bankrupt. I was stuck with dailup service for 3 months while they (the DSL co.) worked out their money problems. They never did, but I got mad and tired of waiting, so I went the cable modem route, and it was the best move I ever made. B)

Knowing your proclivities for research, here's a place to initiate intercultural investigations into the intricacies of Murphy's (and Other's) Laws.
