I am in the process of backing up all necessary files to CD, but cannot figure out how to save my Netscape 4.8 Mail folders in a readable format. When I call them up from the prefs file, I get a very unreadable format, full of junk, with email scattered among the junk. While I am at it, what is the proper way to get Bookmarks and Address Book to a CD?
Thanks, nels96

nels96,
I do bookmarks the old fashion way. By just dragging to a newly created folder.
You might have to 'hold' the option key down doing this.
Then I use stuffit to compress the bookmarks and send the compressed bookmarks to a cdr,zip or where ever.
I've found that this works for me with either NS or IE in OS 8,6/9.2.2. or JAG.
Takes all of around twenty seconds.
Now the address is whole different deal.
What I do is like many others. Grab it from the preferences.
Although I have had .... errr .... not that great a luck with it.

Nels,
Open the Documents Folder on your main drive and then the Mozilla folder. If you back up your Profiles folder found within, you should have all your Mail info as well as your Bookmarks. If anything else is needed, hopefully someone else will come to your aid.
This file won't be in a format that you can 'open' and read but if you need to reinstall Netscape or have a problem with your Profile, you'll have the information backed up.
Good luck!!
