Title: How do you open up a G3 ?
Post by: Bill on March 02, 2003, 02:46:00 PM
G3 beige 300MHz.
The thing is put together like a tank!

I found some manual links but nothing on how to open the thing up.

It has three bays.
1) cd
2) zip
3) super disk
? 4) a blank cover?

Bill  is it a tower?..At the risk of sounding a bit cocky..(I do not mean to), I have a Beige G3/300 tower...and it opens from the left looking at it. Push the blue/green or aqua button on top and take the cover off...there is a latch inside...forget which way it turns. Anyhow unlatch it...and pull on it...the insides flip out.

If it's a stock G3 300 it has to be a MT. I just last week purchased for $100.00 Rev.B 266mhz DT.  Now I have a Test unit for the Work Bench that will allow me to Test HDD's much faster than the older Macs and clones    Pop the Drive into the G3 install the Os and other software. Done!    OH, BTW Hello everybody. Been working many hours. I sure miss this place.     Good manuals Bill. They'll show you exactly how to pop open the Beige box. PS ( If the unit is yours. Paint it Black and silver) It'll match most new LCD's

Sorry it took so long to get back.
Popped the main water line while cutting down these weeds with a tractor.
Don't ask. /grumble -- grumble

Then TS was down for whatever reason here.

Bobw, I have that link and downloaded the pdfs earlier.

Yeah Bern,it's a MT.

Roy. Yes it is a [mini?] tower.
I'm not where I can get to it now but I did find the greenish-blue button earlier and all that did was pull the left side off. Didn't know about the latch inside.

I'll have to look at it later on.

This whole business started off with George's thread on ram. <gr>

The tower is what I call "The Work Horse".
In my travels I picked up some PC-100 ram cl2 sticks and figured I'd swap out the ones in there for these better one too max it out.
Guess that'll be later on now.<gr>
