Title: Adobe Acrobat Reader Snafu!
Post by: Buck on October 12, 2003, 12:24:54 PM
Seems that Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.01 needs an update in order for me to run it w/ OS 9.1.
Don't know why this is, it ran fine in the past. I can't find this update to 3.01 on Adobe's website.
Tried installing newer Acrobat ( i. e.) 4.0,5.0 but the installers on these freeze as soon as I check one of the check boxes as required. I do hope somebody here has a clue as to what the $#@! is going on w/ this. wallbash.gif Thanks loads, Buck

Buck, Should you wish to revert to v3.01...

1. Go to http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
2. Select:
Language: English
Platform: Mac 68K_.bin
Connection Speed: Dial-up
3. The site will then select the appropriate version of Acrobat. In this case it is v3.01
4. Click ‘Download”

But,
According to Adobe (using the above routine, except changing the Platform to OS 9.1-10.2.1), the site will then indicate Acrobat Reader 5.1 is required. Perhaps that is what you need???

To Addict: Whenever I try installing READER 4, or 5, the installers freese up after checking one of the option boxes. To which I have to force quit.

FWIW, I could not get 5.0 to print anything under 9.2 so I installed 5.1 and it works! Are you using downloaded installers for 4.0 / 5.0 ? If there's an "out of the box" installer available, that would be my next step. (Although, I tried that with Netscape 7 and still didn't get it to run properly.)

Even though I've run Acrobat 3.0 on this 9.1 system in the past, Adobe is at a loss as to what's up. Here's hoping I never need to view a PDF file down the road. Thanks to all that tried to help on this.  A real stumper this one!  upset.gif  wallbash.gif  doh.gif  mad.gif
