Title: Apple's Home Page
Post by: Himrich on October 12, 2003, 12:31:29 PM
OK, something strange is going on here and I must be the only one in the universe with this problem. I was elated to see the Panther countdown timer on Apple's Home Page last week like everyone else. Then I went back to it a day later and all I see is the countdown timer. I thought it might be an Apple problem and would work itself out, but alas after 3 more days it still won't load the rest of the page properly.

I have tried it in all 3 browsers (Safari, IEX, and Navigator) with the same results. I have erased the caches and rebooted. I have run my disk repair programs. Nothing will load the page correctly.

Is it some new Java thing that I am out of the loop on?

Loads fine in Navigator as well.  Does the silver X show up on the right in the black box?  If so, you should be able to click on that to get where you want to go.

Good luck, Himrich!

Thanks for all the responses but alas that is what I feared, that I am the only one experiencing this problem.

So I repaired permissions, ran Disk Warrior, deleted caches on all of my browsers and nothing worked. In fact, after a little more experimentation I find that it is also occuring on the iTunes and Quicktime tabs as it was on the home page. The others, Store, .Mac, Support and MacOS X are loading fine and I don't have a problem with any other pages on the internet. Part of the page loads but the title bar area is totally messed up and the tabs do not appear on the above three mentioned.

What I don't get is how it can be so specific to those three Apple pages and yet consistent over all three of my browsers. Go figure.
