Title: Installing 10.2.8 update-Help
Post by: Gary S on October 14, 2003, 12:14:14 PM
I've got the Disk image for 10.2.8 sitting on my desktop and when I double click on it goes through the mounting procedure but nothing happens. It doesn't mount the update. The MacOSXUpdateCombo10.2.8.dmg just sits there.

What am I doing wrong?

I tried dragging it onto Disk Copy and got the same thing.

Double clicking should open the installer and start the process.

Maybe you got a broken download, although since OS X, I haven't seen the problem.

You might try running Disk Utility > Repair Permissions, then try again.

I Repaired Permissions and no dice. Maybe it's a corrupt download.

I think it was a corrupted Download.

I downloaded it a second time and it was 99mb instead of 97mb. Theu must have let something out there. huh.gif

So anyways I'm using 10.2.8 now. Repaired pemissions, ran DiskWarrior and things seem OK except Trash-X doesn't work.

I'll have to check their site. It's wierd, when you try to put something in the Trash-X icon you get a message that it doesn't work with OS10.2.8 and to visit their website. How does it know about 10.2.8? ohmy.gif

The only problem I ran into with 10.2.8. Gary S was way after installing the combo on my ... say test partition ...! All seemed fine for a few days of giving it run around the block a bunch of times.
Then I installed it on the other X partition and the other 'puters.

Found out my printer (tank track sounding epson 740) wasn't recognized.
Had to call it back up in the print center.

Other than that little surprise, no problems so far.
I've read all over that Safari has been a bit of a problem.
I use Camino as my main, so ....
