Much to my surprise when I went to install my new G5, there was no Apple Pro Speakers port. Yep, Apple has abandoned the speakers and digital audio in favor of an optical link. The latter for very high powered sound systems using "cutting edge" technology.
So, I have a useless pair of speakers, am out $60, and if I want halfway decent sound (the built in speaker is a piece of c _ _ p!!! If anyone TSer wants the speakers I will be happy to send them to you free of charge. Just send me an e-mail (cassco@c-fourth.com) - first request gets them.
I gues I go to high end $100 optical link speakers or find a pair the connect via USB. Anyone have any ideas?

I had the same problem, but here at TS I was told about his adapter as possible sollution (can't exactly remember who it was...sorry!
):
http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/ifire/ (40$)
or
http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/...wave/index.html (100$)
In the end, I decided not to go for the adapter, but to connect my G5 to my stereo, because my Pro Speakers were already showing signs of some sort of problem.

They are great!
I have some apple pros I'd like to sell too.
