Title: Graphics Cards Question for 64MB cards......
Post by: Gary S on March 03, 2003, 03:18:00 PM
I've had 2 different ATI Graphics boards in this G3 of mine.

It looks like I'm getting a QuickSilver G4 933 that has a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 64MB card in it.

I know some of you have this  NVIDIA GeForce4 MX card in your machine. I was wondering how you like it and if you know how it compares to ATI's 64MB cards. I'll check XLR8 in the meantime.

TIA

I have both the NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 64 MB and the ATI Radeon 8500  64MB cards and the performance is just about equal.

Using XBench the NVidia scores higher in the Open GL test while the Radeon gets higher marks in the Quartz Graphic test.

Gary. IMO if you get a 933 with a GeForce 4 MX Card you should just leave it.

Why add to the cost?

I think you'll find that the 8500 and 9000 Pro might be better.

I say just wait and do whatever with what you've got.

If you just have to get something, get the 9000 Pro for $130.

If it's still going on.

My 2 cents.

Kelly,

I think I'll just stick with the NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 64 MB that it cames with and go from there. I'll see how it performs.

I've been hearing that the ATI 8500 out performs the 9000 PRO.

No way to compare Gary S because I've the nvidia geforce4 mx 64.
It works just fine for me.

I use Voyager III a lot with no problems. {sorry about the size}

Not much of a gamer. Unless bugman counts.
