I had my machine set up so that double-clicking on a jpeg automatically launched Graphic Converter. Suddenly, new jpegs are opening IE (5.1.6) (I'm still on OS9.1) - the older ones already attached to GC are no problem. Going into IE and changing the help files simply causes IE to launch before it launches GC. Well, it was a long shot but worth a try. I can't remember how I set it up and can't find anything in the Apple Help Centre.
So now I have to launch GC before opening pic through menu. Be grateful for tips on how to revert to getting GC to open automatically for jpegs.
TIA

Highmac, do the same thing you did in IE prefs but in the File Exchange Control panel for jpegs. That should do it.

Thanks Kriss. Checked those out and should be OK now. Did mention the problem to one of our imaging people (I generally try not to bother them - they have a lot of their own work to do). She said because they used different programs, they put aliases on the desktop and just dragged the pic file to the program they wanted to open it. Sometimes the obvious is laughing at you under your nose

Actually I do the same, except I have some aliases on the desktop and some in my popout DropDrawers. I also have plug-ins for contextual menus and finderpop so I can mousedown on an item and a popup will give me a choice of app for opening that file.
Ah, good ol' OS 9.

Don't know DropDrawers (sounds kinda rude
), but I find dragging on to the alias in the Launcher window works.

Can't live without it.
