Turns out to use the propel software on your own a monthy fee would have to be paid. Looks like by getting it through my ISP it would be a couple of dollars cheaper per month to use.
Anyone ever try this Propel Accelerator?

Do a Google search and you will find even more info...
I haven't used it myself since I have cable, which Charter just upped to 2mbps as a free trial. A 1.6MB file downloaded in under 5 seconds.

I have dail up here in Henryetta, Oklahoma and get a fast connection to my ISP in Tulsa which is 50 miles away. My town has a fiber optic setup for phone service, the only thing slowing down the connection is the land lines outside of town. We have the fiber converter out side my home with the phone line coming up from underground. The DSL setup is local at the switching station which is 4 blocks from my house. I am thinking about getting DSL this coming summer next year after I finish putting the new cat 5 phone lines inside the house.

Cat 5 cables are not phone lines, but rather ethernet cables. Try to plug one of those babies into your phone jakc, and you may need a hammer to get it in

yes they have cat 5 phone lines, I have a couple of rolls of it that I am installing in my house. do a google search for these lines there are many places that sell or supply them. You can also get them from the phone company if you know who to ask. We use SBC down here, the workers are more friendly.

No second phone line here giantmike. I have a small internet answering machine spliced between the phone jack and the computer that announces and displays incoming calls. I can now get dialup for $15 dollars a month. Compared to that, $40 a month for DSL is a hefty jump.
I understand that high speed internet access is very nice and I would very much enjoy it but until the price comes down I won't bite. To many other bills that need to get paid and little ones that need fed. Oh well, mabey someday.
