Before downloading the latest OS version, I thought it would be prudent to back up my existing 10.3.1 to an external drive.
So I did, using CCC & having those preferences set to "Make Bootable". This has always worked fine in the past.
Now, although that backed up 10.3.1 shows up as a bootable system, when I select it as my startup, I get the Apple symbol, but it goes no further.
I've repaired permissions, repaired the disk, but nothing helps.

There were a couple of errors during the process, the most serious of which seemed to be:

I've always had a couple of these errors when using CCC, usually about some
Appleworks files, which I've ignored without consequence.

Thomas, have you run Disk Utilities > Repair Permissions?
Just wondering... Maybe CCC runs into problems if the permissions are messed up.
-
Yes, ran permissions & then CCC also repaired permissions before the clone.

Thomas, If you have not already, a scan of the CCC Forum may help. http://forums.bombich.com/ Or, perhaps a post. The forum are all monitored by Mike Bombich, so the guidance there should be the gospel...
