Just got OWC's weekly email notice, with this very interesting Quick Tip on additional noise reduction for the MDD/AKA "Windtunnel" G4's. This was also posted at XLR8yourmac.com recently.

Have you seen this, Kelly?

Yes Paddy. I'm on their list.

Might try it. Or not.

Thanks for the info, Paddy!
I just installed CHUD to see if it makes any difference.
I have found that keeping the room temperature at 68° or less keeps my G4 fans from going into high gear. So, I may never notice if there is a real cooling difference without using some sort of software to check.
The last time I heard the fans wind up was last summer.

Well... CHUD is gone. I was running my usual group of applications while online, such as Safari, Mail, iChat and iTunes.
I went into the kitchen to get a cup of coffee and came back to find my computer frozen up.
The particular way it was acting is something I have never seen before. It sounded almost like a skipping music CD repeating a faint clicking sound.
The CHUD installer comes with an un-installer.
It works great!
