Title: Additional Noise Reduction for MDD's
Post by: Paddy on December 30, 2003, 08:27:41 AM
Just got OWC's weekly email notice, with this very interesting Quick Tip on additional noise reduction for the MDD/AKA "Windtunnel" G4's. This was also posted at XLR8yourmac.com recently.

Have you seen this, Kelly?

Thanks for the info, Paddy!

I just installed CHUD to see if it makes any difference.

I have found that keeping the room temperature at 68° or less keeps my G4 fans from going into high gear. So, I may never notice if there is a real cooling difference without using some sort of software to check.

The last time I heard the fans wind up was last summer.  laugh.gif

Well... CHUD is gone. I was running my usual group of applications while online, such as Safari, Mail, iChat and iTunes.

I went into the kitchen to get a cup of coffee and came back to find my computer frozen up.  dry.gif  The particular way it was acting is something I have never seen before. It sounded almost like a skipping music CD repeating a faint clicking sound.

The CHUD installer comes with an un-installer.  rolleyes.gif It works great!
