Title: Sleep issues
Post by: Jay on March 19, 2003, 10:37:00 PM
When I put my G4 to sleep, things seem to go funky when I wake it back up.  If I am connected to AOL Instant Messenger, I find that my connection is dropped when I wake the computer back up.  Also, the computer seems to run crappy when woken back up.  Kinda like I do when I wake up in the morning.  Very sluggish.

How do I go about troubleshooting this?  This has been going on for a long time...  At least a year.  I just never did anything about it.  When I was at school I didn't really care because I wasn't paying the electric bill.  Now that I am back home my parents have noticed a $20+ increase in the electric bill!     I would rather put my computer to sleep rather than shut it down because I can't stand to wait for it to boot up.  It's getting slow in its old age.  G4, 350 MHZ, OS X 10.2.4 Jag.

Thanks

I have the same machine and OS version as you, I have no sleep issues aside from a cursor freeze on wake. The keyboard works, it's just the cursor. The only way to get out of it is to reboot. This happens after about 3 or 4 days. Can't figure it out.

Maybe this will help: I have everything in the "Energy Saver" control panel unchecked except for sleep. No separate display sleep, no hard disk sleep, no wake for network or admin activity, etc.
